[ -Description- ] "Do you remember?
We flew imprisoned in our own dreams.
Then the mind disclosed its wings to the world
Setting us free again.
And we never had given up thinking."The above image , would like to be an homage to the digital arts world.
The Pagoda represent the Computer Graphics and its 3 levels
are the 3 foundamental components of Color
Red-Green-Blue
The swans, in my intents, are our own dreams,
our fantasy and imagination,
that become alive trough Computer Graphics.
[ -Tips & Tricks- ] Before starting with the pagoda construction,
I've spent some time for getting the necessary documentation.
Once in possession of the requested material, I started working.Very helpful have been the several visit I had toTravel agencies, looking for oriental sites depliants.
After an accurate analisys, i've tried to make my job easier
Separating the 3 main components of the roofs structure:1 - wooden structure
2 - Ornamental items.
3 - Cover
Tips
For the wooden structure,
I had particular attention to the section to be used for the lofting.
After several attempts, I've created the above section with a little filleting of the corners,to obtain a better quality for the shading, because of the light that,
in this way, was better expanding on the surfaces.
The 3 main components of the roof have been quite easy to be modeled,
since 99% of the involved objects was obtained by simple extrusion, lofting
and bending operators.
Most of the time has been spent for assembling all the single components.
Once I've reached the desired number of levels,
I've started to model the objects in between the roofs. The most exciting part of the project was
to perform the ornamental items.
For instance, to model the medallions,
I've used simple planes with color maps and related alpha channels masks applied,
as shown in the picture. We are close to the end.
After choosing a background cloud image,
I've supplied my scene with an appropriated light set.
The swans have been modeled with "Organica" from "Impulse"
and then rendered using the pagoda image as background. File size: 264 kbPagoda Roofs. Download in 3DSMax format.
